Expedition Foundation
Expedition Foundation's mission is to generate and provide contributive funding and resources that advance educational initiatives, and support charitable causes within the educational communities Expedition Credit Union cooperative serves.
The foundation was established to help extend the credit union philosophy of 'people helping people' and enhance Expedition CU's support and focus on the education community. The Expedition Foundation is a separate entity from Expedition Credit Union. However, Expedition CU is the primary funder and donates operational resources to run the foundation. Expedition Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations received are tax-deductible.
Expedition Foundation provides up to $2,000 total in Financial Literacy grants with a maximum of $500 each to teachers, departments or schools to support financial literacy efforts with their students. Submitted applications should support instruction of content related to budgeting, credit, money management, economics, saving and investing, or other personal finance topics.
Applications are due by December 15th, 2024 and are available in an editable PDF format or an online form.

Scholarship Award Program - Applications now available
Expedition Foundation is pleased to announce the following scholarship opportunities for students continuing their education in the fall of 2025:
- One $2,000 Educator Award to an member currently working in the field of education
- One $1,500 Education Major Award for an upcoming Junior or Senior college student Majoring in Education
- Three $1,000 Student Awards for current high school seniors heading to college or university next fall.
A committee of educators, foundation board of directors, and a representative from Education Minnesota will select the winners. Scholarship recipients will be notified in April of 2025.
Applications are due by February 7th, 2025 and are available through an online form or an editable PDF format.

How do I become a Expedition Foundation Member?
A donation of $5 or more to the Expedition Foundation establishes your Foundation membership for one year. Once a member of the Foundation, you are eligible to join Expedition CU if you are not already a member; you will have voting rights for the Scholarship Selection Committee; you may participate in the annual meeting and potential fundraising events; and have the opportunity to serve on future Foundation committees.
To become a member of Expedition Foundation: Simply make a transfer from your account (current members only). Or, we accept cash or check donations at a credit union branch office.
